TTC fares hikes will come into effect Sunday.
These hikes include a 25 cent increase to adult cash fare, bumping them up to $3.25. The cost of a token will increase to $2.90, a 10 cent hike. Day/Family passes increase by 50 cents, making the new cost $12.00. Adult Weekly Passes and Downtown Express Stickers will now cost $41.50 up from $40.00.
The cost of Metropasses and all senior and student fares will remain the same for the first part of 2016.
There’s also some good news for commuters. Subway service will start at 8 a.m. on Sundays instead of 9 a.m.
In November, the TTC board approved the year’s budget, which included the fare increases.
The TTC’s operating budget for 2016 is $1.7 billion, and 555 million passenger trips are expected in 2016.
The city has also promised more reliable bus and streetcar services and a new and enhanced express bus service.
