The Province is making it easier for parents to register their newborn’s birth and name online from the comfort of home. Parents can now apply for a birth certificate, a Social Insurance Number and Canada Child Benefits, including the Ontario Child Benefit, using Ontario’s online Newborn Registration Service. That’s four separate applications now combined into one easy-to-use online process.
Ontario also offers a service guarantee for birth certificates ordered online – delivered in 15 business days, or it’s free. Since the service guarantee began in 2005, more than 99.8% have been delivered on time.
This service guarantee and expanded online service is part of the Open Ontario plan to help make services for families faster, friendlier and easier to access.
