There are approximately 600-800 moose-vehicle collisions on the island of Newfoundland every year.

Royal Newfoundland Constabulary officers were called to the scene of a moose-vehicle accident on the Conception Bay South bypass road early Sunday morning.

The collision occurred at Minerals Road around 2 a.m.

The occupants of the vehicle were not injured, but the vehicle itself was extensively damaged.

The moose was killed as a result of the accident.

Wildlife officials later removed the animal from the scene.
