A man accused of dragging a police officer behind his car is out on bail after paying one thousand dollars cash.
Wesley Klassen was in court Friday morning facing a number of charges after a bizarre encounter with a Saskatoon constable. The officer was dragged behind a car last Saturday, after pulling a driver over. The 57 year old Klassen is accused of speeding away, dragging the officer nearly two blocks.
Police searched for the suspect for several days; Klassen was eventually arrested Thursday. He’s charged with Aggravated Assault for endangering the life of a Police Officer, dangerous driving, and obstructing a Police Officer in the execution of his duties.
Klassen is back in court June 22nd.
Police say the officer escaped serious injury and is back on the job.
