Hybrid Vehicles Receive Premium Parking Spots

Source: Jan.15/09 Toronto Edition of 24 hours (page 4 – Astrid Poei)

Hybrid vehicles are receiving special attention and reserved “Hybrid P” parking spots around the City of Toronto.  The Exhibition Place (managed by the City of Toronto) has decided to reward the owners of hybrid motor vehicles (green-friendly transportation) by offering special reserved parking spaces, on the property of Exhibition Place.

There are fourteen (14) plum reserved parking spaces at the BMO Field and Energy Direct.  These special parking spaces are unenforced.  This isn’t a new concept.  Ikea began offering this type of parking on its property in May 2007 and has been progressive in offering Maternity parking for customers.

It is unlikely that this idea will catch on given that there are not enough parking spots for the disabled, let alone the rest of us.
