Here we go again. The City of Toronto has decided to close down the highway during one of the busiest weekends in Ontario.
The Gardiner Expressway will be closed eastbound and westbound between Carlaw Avenue and the Humber River beginning on Saturday, May 21, 2011 at 2:00 a.m. and re-opening on Monday, May 23, 2011 at 8:00 a.m.
The City of Toronto’s Transportation Services plans on closing the Gardiner three (3) times over the next month, the first closure will be this weekend, the second closure will be on June 5 “Ride for Heart – fundraiser” and the third and final will be on the June 25-26, 2011 weekend for additional cleaning/repairs.
These closures are to perform repairs and maintenance and to clean the highway and the adjoining lands beside the Expressway.
The City will continue to repair the Jamieson bridge, perform a cleaning including catchbasins, fix light poles and anything else that comes to the crew’s attention.
