Drivers should avoid the roads around the Hospital for Sick Children on Sunday as thousands of walkers are expected to take over the streets for a fundraising event for the hospital.
The walk, known as Meagan’s Walk, will begin at 10 a.m. outside of Ontario Place. Participants will start by walking along the waterfront, heading east on Queens Quay and winding their way around the Rogers Centre and over to University Ave. The walk should be finished at approximately 11:00 a.m.
These roads will not be closed down because the walkers will be relegated to the sidewalks, but police are warning drivers that they may have to wait at intersections where the walkers cross for a gap in the participant flow.
There is one road, however, that will be shut down for the event. Traffic will not be permitted on Elizabeth St., the first street east of University Ave., from Gerrard St. W. to Elm St. until the event finishes in the afternoon.
