Damaged hydro pole leaves some without power in west Toronto neighbourhood

Some residents in a west Toronto neighbourhood were without power after a car crashed into a hydro pole and then ricocheted onto the front stoop of a house.

Toronto police charged a 23-year-old woman with impaired driving.

Police said the driver was speeding in the area of Martin Grove and Rathburn roads when she lost control of her vehicle and crashed into a snow bank.

The car was then sent into a hydro pole — cutting off some of the area’s power — before coming to rest on the front porch of a home.

Officers said the driver was taken to hospital but was not badly injured. No one inside the home was hurt.

Hydro crews spent the morning trying to restore electricity to the neighbourhood
