Commercial Vehicle Blitz on Lakeshore Boulevard East at Coxwell Ave., Sept. 21/11 (7 am – 3 pm)

Toronto Police (54 Division), accompanied by the Ontario Ministry of Transportation and Toronto Municipal Licensing and Standard, will conduct a Commercial Vehicle Blitz on Wednesday, September 21, 2011 for an eight (8) hour period between 7 am and 3 pm.

Heavy Trucks (Tractor Trailer Rigs), Buses, Tow Trucks and Taxi Cabs will be pulled over and inspected for safety and provincial and municipal compliance with the laws, rules and regulations.

An MTO Inspector will look at all of the paperwork and make sure it is in proper order. The licence of the Vehicle Operator will be looked at, hours of work, the pre-trip inspection sheet. The roadworthiness of the vehicle will be totally inspected (brakes, tires, lighting, wheel nuts, bolts on the airtank, springs, windows must be clear, load security, etc,. etc.).

Police will be conducting this heavy truck safety inspection blitz (includes buses) to ensure the driver’s of these heavy vehicles are properly licenced and vehicle equipment is in proper order.                           

Police are requesting that commercial vehicle operators, ensure that their loads are properly secured and that a proper and complete circle check be conducted and properly recorded, prior to taking the vehicle on the road.

A similar two (2) day Heavy Truck Blitz took place at the City of Toronto Works Yard on Leslie Street, south of Lakeshore Boulevard East in early November, 2010 and the results of that blitz are as follows:
