An auto insurance company is promoting a new device as a way to lower your rates, but one privacy watchdog is worried about what else it could bring.
Desjardins Insurance is offering a telemetric device similar to an airplane’s black box to drivers in Ontario and Quebec, pledging that it could save drivers hundreds of dollars a year by making sure they’re practicing safe driving habits.
However, one privacy watchdog said he’s concerned about what other uses they could have for the data, including in court.
