ServiceOntario Centres will open longer on Thursdays (from 6 pm to 8 pm).

On June 9, 2011 ServiceOntario announced that it will begin to make the Ontario Photo Card available as early as July 25, 2011 at 20 selected Service Ontario Centres and at all 300 ServiceOntario Centres by 2012.  All the other provinces had already offered the people in their provinces government issued photo identification cards, with the exception of Ontario and Quebec. Ontario got on board quite late in this regard.

Unfortunately, ServiceOntario did not indicate at which of its’ twenty (20) selected ServiceOntario centres where this new I.D. card would be available.  fightyourtickets emailed ServiceOntario and requested the specific twenty (20) locations where 1.5 million Ontarians could apply for the government-issued photo I.D. cards and did not receive a reply.

Now, ServiceOntario has indicated that its’ hours will be extended until 8:00 p.m. on Thursdays and will now be open on Saturday’s from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

More than 100 ServiceOntario centres will remain open until 8 pm on Thursdays and on Saturdays from 9 am to 1 pm - although ServiceOntario does not identify which 100 locations they are referring to. On June 9, 2011 ServiceOntario provided a news release indication that effective July 25, 2011, 20 ServiceOntario locations in Ontario would allow 1.5 million Ontarians to apply for the Ontario-issued Photo I.D., but neglected to identify or reveal to the public where the 20 locations in Ontario would be.

ServiceOntario is expanding its hours of service to help Ontario families access government services like driver’s licence and health card renewal, where and when they need them.

More than 100 ServiceOntario centres across the province will now stay open until 8 p.m. on Thursday evenings and will open on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Unfortunately, ServiceOntario has not indicated which of its’ 100 ServiceOntario centres will stay open later on Thursdays or on Saturdays from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m..  Like the new government-issued Photo Card, Ontarians are left guessing as to the locations that ServiceOntario is referring to.
